This guy seems a bit old to have an average 8pt rack. I'd like for my niece or BIL to take him. What do you think of his age? Time/date are correct.

Before he drank the whole tank:

He still looks young from those pics, but in our program there are a certain number of each age class that need to come out each year. If you have others in his age class that are better. take him.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Looks 4.5 in the 2 pics on the hill but long legged enough in the last picture to maybe be only 3.5. His face also looks pretty young when I put it on my 48" monitor and blow it up.

If this is Hill Country I'd go 4.5

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

He's in Mills County. I figured him to be a healthy 4.5 with a slight chance at 5.5. His antlers are less than average for our typical 4yr olds, but you could argue he put a lot in his body and could definitely blow up two years. If he's 3.5 I would definitely leave him but I think he's got too much body for 3.5.

I was gonna say 4.5 for sure until the last pic, so maybe 3.5?

We have shot a few deer that we were uncertain of. In the end we have regretted the ones we have shot.

I'd pass him. I think he looks fatter than he does mature... same thing that has lead to us popping a few before their time.

I can appreciate that. The only thing I would say about that is that his body is huge for a 3.5, we've been ultra-dry for a while, and nobody within a mile in any direction is feeding protein. His antlers do suggest 3.5 for us, though. Hopefully I'll see him in person soon and see if he looks any different with the approaching rut.

Man, I keep going back to that last pic of him and he looks 3.5 to me there all day long. His face is also throwing me back to 3.5 although we know that is not a truly good marker.

I agree that he may have a big body but he still looks very leggy to me and doesn't appear to have a lot of chest depth yet.

If it were me, unless I was sure he was 4.5 he'd get a pass this year.

He looks to be either a 4yr old or lanky 5 yr old hill country buck to me. Lot of depth and width in the shoulders/brisket. He will look a lot thicker and different in about a week or two from today.
