Hills are the enemy to the zero turn. I have a bar ditch in front of my house that is a part of my yard, if the front wheels get pointed down hill it's going to the bottom. That is the only negative I've found. That’s because you don’t know how to drive. Maneuvering. Hands down. Unless you live on the side of a hill near BigPig. I only slide into to ditch due to wet grass and mud. Yes they will slide. I'm familiar with two zero turn mowers that slid into a lake or pond. One was fatal. The other one sure could have been. The one that was not fatal had a highly experienced operator and the man was an excellent swimmer, previous scuba diver.

I don’t have to worry about ponds, but my ditch can’t be mowed 11.5 out of 12 months. Taking a 20 foot slide sideways on a mower has a certain pucker factor the first time.

I have operated a few ZT mowers and they are better in a lot of ways than the standard mower. Two things have stopped me from buying one. Sitting low to the ground you eat more dust and grass and holding a beer while driving is complicated.

All this talk. I remember when Pop got our first motorized lawn mower, I was pushing an old reel mower before that. Keep them sharp and oiled and they cut surprisingly well. I edged the yard with and old roofing axe and a set of clippers.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I can remember one of those push reel mowers in my grandparents garage, it never saw it used. They did use their gas push mower, and it had a spring starter you wound up and then turned loose to spin the engine. It’s the only one I have ever seen.

I've had two John Deer's and they were great. Zero turn cut my mowing time by two thirds.

In between turns at the mower we turned hand crank ice cream freezers. The cream came from their cow that my granddad milked by hand. And yes, if we were thirsty after eating the ice cream we got a drink from the garden hose. To cool off we swam in the pond. They didn't have air conditioning just yet, but it came along pretty soon.

Far less dust and grass than a pokey lawn tractor.

However, once in a while I mow some real tall stuff with the blade up higher. It might not mulch. I wear motocross goggles, a body shop caliber paint mask, and ear plugs. I may look goofy, but I can see and breath when I get through.

Didn’t work too well on the inside radius of circular driveway.

You need to figure out your price point then shop accordingly. The biggest difference is serviceable transmissions or not, do you need that level of quality or not? Only you can answer that. Your trannies (I'm not talking about 2Beez here) will likely not last if you pull things so the serviceable would be better.
Poor 2Beez!
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............
