That’s because you don’t know how to drive.

I only slide into to ditch due to wet grass and mud.

Yes they will slide. I'm familiar with two zero turn mowers that slid into a lake or pond. One was fatal. The other one sure could have been. The one that was not fatal had a highly experienced operator and the man was an excellent swimmer, previous scuba diver.

I don’t have to worry about ponds, but my ditch can’t be mowed 11.5 out of 12 months. Taking a 20 foot slide sideways on a mower has a certain pucker factor the first time.

Plenty of good options out there but a Scag is hard to beat.

I have operated a few ZT mowers and they are better in a lot of ways than the standard mower. Two things have stopped me from buying one. Sitting low to the ground you eat more dust and grass and holding a beer while driving is complicated.

All this talk. I remember when Pop got our first motorized lawn mower, I was pushing an old reel mower before that. Keep them sharp and oiled and they cut surprisingly well. I edged the yard with and old roofing axe and a set of clippers.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

You two were on earth before dirt!

I always like hearing about old methods and how it used to be done. I can remember one of those push reel mowers in my grandparents garage, it never saw it used. They did use their gas push mower, and it had a spring starter you wound up and then turned loose to spin the engine. It’s the only one I have ever seen.

I've had two John Deer's and they were great. Zero turn cut my mowing time by two thirds.

Yes---In the early to mid 60's at my grandparents house the grandkids took turns on the reel mower. In between turns at the mower we turned hand crank ice cream freezers. The cream came from their cow that my granddad milked by hand. And yes, if we were thirsty after eating the ice cream we got a drink from the garden hose. To cool off we swam in the pond. They didn't have air conditioning just yet, but it came along pretty soon.

John Deer will stand behind everything they sell except their manure spreaders.

Is that left up to the “end” user Bill?

You only eat and dust and grass if you go slow, mine mows at 11mph. Far less dust and grass than a pokey lawn tractor.

I know two different people with mulching kits on Kubota diesels. They get about no dust.

My Skagg Patriot may have enough power for a mulching kit. However, once in a while I mow some real tall stuff with the blade up higher. It might not mulch.

I wear motocross goggles, a body shop caliber paint mask, and ear plugs. I may look goofy, but I can see and breath when I get through.

The two best innovations were the string trimmer and leaf blower.
I remember using hand trimmers, those would wear a blister on a hand in about two minutes.

No zero turn for me. They are too difficult to operate while holding a cold beer.

I think I’ve still got a hand edger in the garage somewhere. Didn’t work too well on the inside radius of circular driveway.

We had one when I was a kid, it was a Craftsman or Wizard from Western Auto, can't remember. It was green and white.

Are you referring to the one that looked like a Chinese death star with a wheel and shaft attached? We had one of those.
