Hey everyone,
I am not new to hunting by any means but definitely new to Texas hunting. How is the early season duck/goose season in the South/East areas?
It just so happens my dad is coming into town the weekend of the waterfowl opener so i am trying to gauge if it is worth going on a guided hunt.
Please let me know your experience on opening weekend in southeast Texas.
Thanks!

Opener in SETX is usually fantastic. Lots of dumb blue and green winged teal, spoons, and gray ducks for the most part.
I'm with GK because I like salty old dudes.

We generally have plenty of grey ducks and teal early.
I doubt you will find any guides with openings at this time.

Thanks! It should be okkkk.. will mainly be teal. You might look at some of the coastal guides. One area of texas that I don’t know that well. Wish I could be more help, normally it’s pretty rough first few weeks until cold weather builds up north

Opening weekend has always been pretty good. Usually about 50% Teal then Spoonies and a few Widgeons/Gadwalls...we also have divers (red, rings, scaup)
Remember, Scaup is down to one a day this fall and Pinnies are back to one a day as well.
Definitely take your dad out...it will be fun no matter how many duck you get.
