I simply squatted down to put some fruit in the crisper drawer in the fridge, yesterday, and pulled the heck out of a quad in my left leg that is now tight, swollen, and sore as heck. Guess I'll have to stretch & warm up before unloading groceries, now:/

Anyone else ever had an injury that just made you shake your head and/or long for younger days?

Walked straight off the roof of the house when I was in third grade, and landed face first in the drive way.

With ya on this Bill. Several years back I was coaching a soccer game and bent over to tie my shoes on the sideline. Bulging disc fired off and I did a face plant. Parents had to physically carry me to my car so I could go to ER.

Man if that was on camera you'd have made a few bucks.

Did it knock you out?

Lol, I was shooting birds with my pellet gun, and I had my eyes on the trees. hammer

Not that I know of, but it did leave long lasting effects. It knocked out my two front teeth, cut a hole straight through my bottom lip, and is probably why my c-spine is all fused together.... I have neck problems to this day. I told my dad I tripped. If he knew the truth he would of killed me. I told him what really happen 30 years later........

Right at the beginning of covid in march I went fishing with my parents and was unloading the boat at the house. Dad had the fish box a 125 quart yeti emptied out and was taking it to wash. I was standing off the garage slab and reached out to take it from him. I don't know exactly what happened all I know is it was in a flash and it hurt like hell at first. Had no strength in the arm. Went to ER they said there was nothing wrong with it. Massive bruising in my bicep and forearm showed up over the next week. Went to primary doc he said I tore/partially tore 3 muscles in my arm including my bicep and i would just have to let it heal. Was suppose to go in for another checkup a month later but after it was scheduled and canceled 3 times I said F-it.

Its still not completely better, no where near as strong as the other arm and fatigues quickly compared to it as well. Also if I flex my bicep i have a big lump nearer the shoulder and an empty flabby spot nearer the elbow. I would consider another dr but the ER dr said quote "I don't even know why you are here" and my primary doc said will just have to heal.... so going on 6 months I hope its healing.

When I was a kid I broke my wrist while jumping a ramp on a Big Wheel.

Nowadays I'm more inclined to break stuff by just not paying attention and/or being forgetful. Like setting my glasses down and then stepping on them. Thankfully, those eyeglass repair kits come in handy.

My wife hates it when I point out for her to be careful when doing things around the house. I've told her repeatedly I never warn her of something where I haven't already made a slip up.

Pinched a nerve in my neck while taking a drink of milk once.

Cut off a piece of my thumb while trying to cut through an ear of corn and somehow didn't see my left thumb under the blade.

At about 11 one night (after the wife was in bed and asleep) lifted up one of the dog's paws to dance in the kitchen. Celebratory dog biscuit dance. Pulled something in my back. Went straight to the floor. Had to crawl to bed and couldn't even get into the bed. Slept on the floor.

Cutting frozen sausage into patties and the knife slipped and cut to the bone on my thumb. I knew better.

Three separate incidents that ended me up in surgery.....First was driving home and slammed on my brakes, heard a loud pop in my knee and dislocated my knee cap/tore my meniscus. Second was headed to bed and turned the lights off downstairs only to clip the couch with my baby toe. Broke it and chipped pieces of bone off in the process. Third was grilling at my folks house, stepped on a garden hose in flip flops and tore a ligament/tendon in the process.

I've crashed motorcycles and had I don't know how many concussions but those three weird injuries ended up with me under the knife.

Had a pigeon come loose in the thrower and hit my friend square in the nuts who was standing next to it. God I wish I had been videoing that day.

You may want to get that checked out if you have that bulge on one end and the empty area on the other...my boss had something similar happen to his bicep and come to find out it was completely tore in two. Had to get it surgically reattached.

The bicep lump thing is what I have, but it seems backwards from redchevy’s problem. I tore the long tendon on the right bicep and have what’s called a “Popeye’s Deformity”, with the lump at the bottom. The doc said just to get on with life. It wouldn’t hurt my tennis or chainsawing. He was right.

Only stupid injury I can think of was many years ago, when I was playing league tennis against a guy that had once played in the National Juniors tournaments. He was big, strong, younger and just plain better than me, but things were going my way. About mid-match I went to change a racket grip, which wouldn’t come off. I grabbed a knife to slice it off, but instead sliced my right thumb longways to the knuckle. I bled like a stuck pig. Only chance I ever had to beat that guy. Didn’t hurt much till I got to the emergency room, where they deadened the thumb with a needle that had to be 2” long. That HURT.

And then there was the high speed face plant on a black slope while skiing in Utah. Knocked me cold for a bit. Didn’t help my face much. Mostly just pain. No doctor required.
