If anyone is looking for a good quality last minute hunt for Mule deer and/or Bull Elk, please read on..........

I just got notified of 2 openings today with our outfitter in SW Colorado for the 2nd rifle season. There is one opening/tag for mule deer and one opening/tag for bull elk. Tags are guaranteed (Unit Wide landowner tags).

This hunt take place in unit 61, which is considered a trophy unit by the state of Colorado. Tags are only available by drawing, or by securing a landowner tag.
If anyone on here is building preference points in Colorado, you know how long it takes to draw these......about 20 points (20 years) for non-residents!!.

Hunts are typically by vehicle transportation to the chosen hunting spot for the day and then on foot. The outfitter will tailor the hunt to the hunter's capability. Average age of the hunters on this hunt is over 50 years old.

I have personally hunted with this outfitter for both Bull Elk and Mule Deer and can attest to the quality of the hunt, animals and the outfitter. We have had numerous clients over the years that have re-booked due to their experiences here. All hunts are guided by the family and close friends, have been operating in their area for over 20 years and know just about every square inch!

The area has had better than average moisture this year, so antler growth is very good.

For Elk, if one is patient, you can expect a bull 300" and up. Earlier hunts this year have already produced 2 bulls over 325"
On the Mule Deer, 170 is realistic with some larger ones taken every year.


Hunt includes:
* 5 full hunting days (2x1) - Outfitter does try make it a 1x1 but it depends on the number of hunters in camp.
* Cabin accommodations. There are 2 cabins on the property - the one cabin is an open layout that sleeps a max. of 6 (usually 4), while the other cabin consists of 2 bedrooms that sleeps 4 - 2 in each.
* Home cooked meals
* Field retrieval of animal and basic prep

Not included:
Elk and or Mule Deer License/tags
Meat processing - available nearby
Landowner tags
* Tag for Mule Deer is $3,000.00
* Tag for the Bull Elk is $5,000.00

Hunt cost itself - $5,500 per person
