Went out Saturday night for the first time in a while and after sitting in a blind for four hours without seeing anything, I decided to call it a night. On the way back to the truck, I spotted some hogs in one of the pastures I had to go through. Because of the bright moon I had to stay along the edge and try to stay in the shadows of the trees while I attempted to close the distance. I managed to get within 75 yards and decided I had better take the shot before they went through a fence and into the woods. There were five in the group and the first one dropped DRT. I shot one that went left and that looked like it dropped. I then went for the ones that went right and hit another one. I looked back at the one that went left and saw him and another one coming right at me at about half the distance. I dropped the closest one and turned on the one that was with him and dropped him. I went back to the second one at the fence line that was making a lot of noise and finished him off. By then, I could hear the one near me that I thought went down and discovered he had closed to within 15 yds and was still trying to come at me. He got a couple more rounds to finish him off. I took inventory of the field and identified 4 bodies that looked to be done for and headed back to get the UTV. When I got back to drag the corpses to the bone pit, I could only find 3. One had gotten up and left the area. I'm sure he didn't make it far. Ended up with three out of five and possibly 2 wounded and hurting really bad. It turned out to be a good night after all.

I was using an AR15 that I built in 6.8 SPC. Thermal was an IR Hunter MK 2 35mm. My thermal is capable of video recording, but I have been having an issue with either my recorder or the cable and have given up trying to record with it so we have to settle for still pictures.

Nice!
Yep, I've had a time or two when a 'dead' hog got up and disappeared while I went back to my vehicle to collect the gear to cut 'em up or haul 'em out.

Keep After 'Em!

Talked to the LO today and found out that he found a 4th hog down the next day. Brings the total to 4 out of the five I counted in the field before the shooting started. I think the 5th one is hurting a little too. Really sucks not having the video to review to see what I actually did.

Oh yeah! Much mo betta! Sometimes, I have to take what I can get though. The terrain is so dense and tough to maneuver, the blind is better than just busting them out and not getting any shots.
