Another plateau. I have stopped adding muscles despite my workout efforts.

- I don't think I have over trained byt I workout 5 days a week
- Protein intake is high due to the carnivore diet
- Plenty of rest
- No real stress except for the 9mm ammo shortage
- No carbs M-F - this may be an issue

To mix it up, I am considering working the 5x5 through the end of the year. The hard part will be to only workout 3 days a week. I've done it before. I rank squats right above the devil.

Anyone else do this?

Here is the program - https://stronglifts.com/5x5/

I think your time frame is too short to consider anything a plateau.

I would stay with your regiment and if you have same results after a couple of months then look at a change.

Just a thought, but are you gaining weight every week? If not, you need more calories....hard to do with zero carbs.

I never did the 5x5 and tried to go to failure...rep range of 8-15 with failure is best for hypertrophy, lots of studies on this.

I did 5x5 when I was in Presidio, you can reach a plateau with that also. On your off days run, or walk fast.

I switched to the 6X6 program a few months ago, and have been putting on 1-2 lbs a week since. About 250 now and climbing. It's amazing what a 6 pack in each hand can do.......burp.

I hit a plateau so I changed from back & bi day, chest & tri day to chest & back day & arm day. (also leg day & an easy day of shoulders & traps).
I also changed from 12, 10, 8 reps to 8, 8, 8 but go heavier than I was & heavier w/each set ( 245x8, 265x8, 285x8). I find these 2 changes have helped me beat plateaus in the past.

I don’t know anything about the muscle gains but 5x5 will make you strong.

Decided against it for now. I took a light 2 weeks in a row half by choice and the other due to work.

Going to hit my routine longer and heavier on Monday.

And half by procrastination.

Hehe I have been procrastinating on my “new routine” for about two years. Stick a fork in me, I’m done.
