I hunted the same stand every year in mason county for 15 years. And every opening morning just before daylight the same muy grande dead mesquite would make my heart race

My favorite moments in the wild are the fleeting moments before the sun awakens and the moments after the sun goes to sleep, where every shadow is a deer and every deer has the potential to be the one.

We had deer bush one year that make me look twice all of the time. It had legs, body, head and antlers. I should of chopped its head off, it drove my daughter nuts.

Lease I had a few years back we had a blind where you rounded a corner on the trail and there about 150 yards out in the middle of a field stood the biggest B&C mesquite tree with a 30 inch spread. Everyone who sat that blind knew it was there including me and it would get us every time!
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Ha- been there! I also spent 20 minutes one morning staring at a ghost raccoon perched on a limb and also watching me in my tree stand. Yeah, it was just another limb further back that in the sunlight in no way resembled a raccoon.

I hate it when the same tree or bush gets me 2-3x during the same hunt after sun up.
