I have never owned one of their full custom jobs but I have owned a Weatherby Mark V stainless 340WBY Mag that they accurized. I have shot tons and tons of very accurate rifles in my life but that one probably tops them all. And the fact that it was such a huge caliber is pretty mind blowing that it was so dang accurate. Says a lot for the kind of work they do in my opinion. I wouldn't think twice about having them do a full custom if I wanted one.

I could not believe the prices they charge for what you get when I looked at their specs at a show in Dallas. My money would go elsewhere

What he said ^. I have dealt with them. And seen what you get for what you spend. Better options are out there

I've always wanted a custom rifle, but I'd just be spending money to spend money. 'Still want a nice 6.5X55 Swede though.

I have had a couple of rifles get trigger jobs and then accurized there and was extremely pleased. Not into the customized rifle thingie, but I have friends who have an continue to do business there. All are satisfied and have heard zero complaints. Mrs. Klappenbach shot a doe in the head at 190 yards this past season with her 7-08.
HCR doesn't seem to have any shortage of work.

I've shot many rifles from Hill Country. I know Matt and several of the smiths over there. When I get their rifles in, they shoot very well. Not sure on their pricing, but their rifles shoot very well. They also make many non-standard calibers and some very unique rifles.

I’ll spend my $6000 plus on something else and for that price I would expect some better test targets.

I think Hill Country Rifles caters to those that don’t care if a rifle costs $6K+. The kind of folks that have a private jet drop them off in the valley for a weekend on their $30K+ per year (per gun) high fence lease. I think this because I’ve met some of those people. Had the opportunity to hunt a $$$$ valley high fence a few years back and sat around the fire ring with people who had more money than they knew what to do with. Really opened my eyes as to how the non-poor folks lived.

It's a 375 CheyTac, and it comes with 2 barrels! You can not compare a 375 Chey Tac rifle to a basic standard caliber. That's an apples to oranges comparison. Like I said, they do some specialty calibers and such. And they do good work. I have shot multiple of their rifles.

The extra long barrel over 32” is 20$ and inch, so $80 more for a cheytac. They still aren’t using lube

What? Why do you say that? Scroll down about half way on the Bartlein page. I don't understand what you are complaining about? Bartlein charges $20 per inch over 32". https://bartleinbarrels.com/barrel-pricing/Extra Length Add $10.00 per inch for barrels up to 32″ $10.00/inch Add $20.00 per inch for barrels over 32″ $20.00/inch
