We got a blade down at camp and took turns escorting the helpful fella around the place. I got there at 3 Wednesday and took over. The big Volvo made short work of what was needed. The photo below shows the big fella "leveling" out a field to make next year's shredding easier. Even on a place the size of ours, we ran out of things to do and the lease ramrod had told me if I needed something new just go ahead and do it. I asked the bladé operator just where could this machine go. He replied, "I can operate this grader anywhere you can drive that there Toyota.". Kinda felt like I was called out - GAME ON! Put it in four WD and started making a path through white, brush, black brush and pear. Over a half mile later, I stopped on a pipeline and waited. When the blade caught up to me, he jumped out and said, "I like your style". We ended up with at least 1.5 miles or so of new roads/senderos. It was awesome. What that blade did in half a day would have taken a large skid steer with a lumber head, somewhere near three days. Our place is in Fowlerton and if someone needs a blade referral, I can definitely provide a reference - extremely pleased.

Cattle guy needed to do some work. Saturday AM, we drove out west and got on a knoll. Saw them two choppers work the cattle towards the pen. They had a 108 mommas, four bulls and then the calves to work with. Started at 7 or so and these guys were extremely effective. It was a work of art. This photo is at the pens. I am still amazed at how quickly they gathered them without stressing the girls, Plain & simple, these guys massaged it well.

Cows needed to be worked, the calves needed to be separated and one bull needed to join them at market. These guys made it look easy. All in all, everything was gathered up to and then worked in the pens, only to be finished by 1:30. We had three sets of works - blade operator, helo guys and the cattle guys - all were impressive.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

That is too cool. Never seen helos round up cows. I guess in that south Texas brush that's what you have to do. Looks expensive.

If you like scary carnival rides......you should sit in one doing it!
Nothing like flying forward, spinning around in a 180 and going backwards all in the same motion. Or, the first time you are in it and that pilot bumps an old momma cow on the arse with the landing gear to get her moving. eeks333

These were all fresh cows never rounded up like this prior. They say they can get used to after a while. A buddy of mine goes up with his judge and splatters butts with bird shot to get them moving.

Very nice. My Cousin hunts a place near Fowlerton.
We just had a skid steer on our place clearing brush in SE Duval County (Rios/Concepcion). He had a cutter & shredder running clearing some ground for the quail hunters. Charged $100/hr and the work he did looks like chit, looks like a tornado went through the place. Quail hunters didn't want to use a dozer, said they didn't want to destroy too much quail habitat. Instead he used the shredder on the front of the Bobcat and shredded tons of huisache down half way to the ground so they could see birds better, now we have all these shredded stumps and debris sticking up everywhere. That blade would work great on our blackbrush & pears, but we also have lots of big huisaches and small mesquites mixed in.

Cool and efficient way to get things done on a large ranch! Enjoyed the pictures and notes!
