Rangers are running the investigation. They generally do not release details. That being said, it occurred at a convenience store which has control of any recording.
Plus the deceased was a Wolfe City employee.

It sounds real bad The guy was a football coach I think. Not a criminal graduated from hardin Simmons University. Early reports are he was breaking up a fight between a man and a woman and the police officer showed up and shot him.

Tragic. I am sorry for his family's loss. Let the Rangers do their jobs. I sure hope the problem folk do not think they are going to go there and riot. It is old skewl, small town Texas still. I'm out of town about 9 minutes, it will not spill over to my place. But, I've made lots of friends in the area, that I care about.

I don’t personally know the deceased - but have several friends that do. I’ve heard he was a good dude. From the info that’s out this sounds real bad on Wolfe city PD.

"When police arrived, I’m told, he raised his hands and attempted to explain what was going on," Merritt wrote on Facebook. "Police fired tasers at him and when his body convulsed from the electrical current, they 'perceived a threat' and shot him to death."

My heart breaks for that man's family...does not look good for the officers...I pray cooler heads prevail.

I’ve read some FB pages, it’s not looking good. Officers address and vehicle descriptions have been released and there are a LOT of angry people.

Whether the officer was right or wrong in his actions, I’ll never understand that sort of behavior.

What is anyone going to do with that information, really?

Is someone going to vandalize his house and vehicle? Is someone going to attempt to destroy his house and vehicle? Is someone going to attempt to harm, injure or kill him and his family?

No, probably not. There are extreme legal ramifications for those acts. And, if LE isn't there at the time to stop it, the people being affected by it (and their neighbors) are left with little choice. Don't share that information, nothing good will come from it.

Yep, Vernon works for the school district or use to. I PM'd him before dove season and have not heard from him. He usually answers pretty quickly.

Think nothing of it. He quit replying to people a few years ago.

Probably living a solitary life, and that's his right.
