I just ordered a Kindle Paperwhite 32 gig. I want to read Texas style novels and some Texas and Texas Rangers stories. I think I’d like the whole Larry Mac series. Help me out.

Longmire mystery series.
If my wife can work a kindle, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble.

Very cool. True Texas history by first hand accounts. Not books made by reading other books Rangers and Pioneers of Texas by Andrew Jackson Sowell Early Settlers and Indian Fighters of Southwest Texas by Andrew Jackson Sowell

Non fiction is tough to find. What are some of your favorites? My favorite of all time is Unbroken.

If you don't have a library card get one pronto. There are thousands of free e-books and audiobooks you can borrow on-line through your library system and easily download to your Kindle or an MP3 device.. My local library has True Grit and the entire Longmire series.
I download a lot of books to my Kindle, but mostly download audiobooks to my Sandisk Clip Jam MP3 player. My hearing is poor so I can't hear deer moving in the woods. So I'm just about always listening to an audiobook when in my deer stand, or driving to and from the lease.
If you can't laugh at yourself, give me a call. I'll gladly laugh at you. "I keep trying to see Nancy Pelosi's and Chuck Schumer's point of view, but I can't seem to get my head that far up my [censored]." Senator John Kennedy, Louisiana

Non fiction is tough to find. What are some of your favorites? My favorite of all time is Unbroken. Within the genre requested, the book I’m currently reading is hard to beat. Empire of the Summer Moon. It’s not for the feint of heart, but as far as I can tell, it’s as honest as can be had this far from its actual happening. Otherwise, Marine Sniper has always been a favorite. I was young when I read it, and I remember more of that book than most, so it left quite an impression.

Anything by Elmer Kelton is great. He was born and raised around Ssn Angelo.

I just read 'Bring Me His Ears' by Clarence Mulford downloaded free from Gutenberg ... action adventure set on an 1840's wagon train (traders not settlers) headed for Santa Fe. Just after the failed invasion of NM ... pretty good Mulford created the Hopalong Cassidy character later morphed into a Saturday morning kid-friendly version. There are Hopalong books on Gutenberg as well.

You can buy books from Amazon directly from the kindle or a pc/tablet. The kindle downloads via wifi. I like the Dan Rhodes mysteries (by Bill Crider) ... small town sheriff of clearview a rural and dwindling Texas town. light hearted murder mysteries/police procedural

Empire of the Summer Moon is a great one Sneaky. S. C. Gwynne on Joe Rogan’s podcast was what turned me on to it. The podcast is well worth your time, if you haven’t listened to it, already.

I gotta figure out the whole buying Kindle books. We have a bunch of kindle keyboards that we picked up cheap over the years. As much as we read we've gotten our moneys worth out of them for dang sure. What helps is getting free ebooks....

Indian Depredations of Texas I read that many years ago. I need to read it again. The first hand stories from the books I mentioned previously share similar stories. What our settlers went through was amazing.
