Whistle Stop Café in Livingston TX is the best I've had in a very long time. Everything is good there! In Onalaska try Jerry’s. When Covid has passed we'll make the drive.

May sound odd, but I picked up the chicken fried ribeye last night from Eatzi’s (Dallas)....with mashed potatoes and broccoli....pretty spiffy. Crisp and thin breading and good cream gravy (underneath).
16.99...but enough for two. Every Wednesday.

I've probably said this before but The Dinner Bell in Graham cooks one of the best CF I have had, way better than Mary's.

My son and I ate at Sissy's in Breckenridge Friday. We both got CFS and it was pretty dang good. Definitely eat there again. Really nice people working there as well.

The Realto in Alpine was pretty darn good this past Thursday. First one I had eaten in 2020 and well worth it. What was better? The appetizer calf fries.

Hills Café southside of Austin. Best ive ever had and I had it at most places listed on here. Oh and Mary's is way over rated.

Everyone talking about Marys in Strawn. The one time I went it was weak at best.
That being said, there is another Mary's called Mary's Brazos Cafe. This place is north of Granbury. It is consistently excellent CFS. You got to want to find it but its worth it.
