Yes they do. We’ve had many neat encounters with them on location.

Lived on the second floor of a apartment complex, there were a lot of Cedar Elms trees next to the back patio, I would leave the sliding glass door open often.
Had a squirrel that I called momma that showed up and would inch her way further and further into the apartment to the point where I was feeding her nuts out of my hand as I sat on the sofa while she was on the coffee table, she would kind of hang out for awhile.

First time I went out of town left the sliding door cracked and a bowl of nuts on the coffee table for her to munch on.
When I came back parts of my chair and sofa were chewed up, me and momma parted ways.

Speaking of pets..... I've known folks that had pet opossums, skunks, bobcats, foxes, and crows. The crows were pretty cool, extremely smart and personable. They acted as though they thought they were a person.

The flip side is I used to keep snakes and chameleons as part of a rescue network. I was into herpetology as a kid and did volunteer work at the Dallas Zoo at the reptile house in the 70's.

One Fox a Bobcat and two Crows. The Crows were the only one's that could truly be called a success. We were tearing down some old power lines and one had a crows nest with 4 young ones. I took two and my buddy took two. I built them a nest in a tree in the front yard and fed them several times a day. They grew up to be adults and eventually migrated with the rest of the Crows that fall. They would follow me out to the garden and eat the Grass Hoppers and Tomato Worms. They would sit on my shoulder and fly to me when I called them, they also stole every thing they could carry. I constantly had to go look in the nest to retrieve small tools. The next year one of them came back but didn't hang around long.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

We have tarantulas all over the place. In the spring and summer I see them around the yard and on the patio and shoo them off the road when the wife and I walk the dog. I've even found one in the house and another climbing up the front of a drawer while sitting at my desk in my garage office. I fish them out of the pool regularly too.

We had an enormous tarantula that lived in my water meter manhole for several years. It was the biggest spider I've seen in the wild, a monster as big as my hand. I relocated it when we had a new meter put in for a one inch water line because I was concerned that the city employee wouldnt kill it. I went out one winter during an ice storm to turn the water off and it had built a nest out of leaves and silk on top of the meter and just sat there while I turned the valve off.

The neighbors know who to call when there's critters than need to be removed smile

Buddy and I got two Red Tail hawks out of the nest right when they were about able to fly. Mine was a female and his was a male, Mine would fly off and to my fist. Pretty cool birds.

Pet nutria
Caught him one day while duck hunting little guy
Took him home to show the kids he never left
Name was lucky
He peed and pooped in the toilet just had to hold him up
Slept just like a lab in the bed
When everywhere with us
Loved hide and seek
