What do y'all do with them? I have about a dozen in the camper, lost lease 2 years ago don't have any need for them now.

If they are single use lantern batteries, throw them in the trash. They stopped putting mercury in batteries a long time ago. If they are rechargeable and your wanting to recycle them check with these guys to see if they take the type you have and where you can drop them off. https://www.call2recycle.org/You might also be able to have someone with the city to pick them up. Where I live, there is a day for pickup of hazardous stuff like paint, oil, batteries, etc. if I call in advance to let them know I am putting it out.

You could also try searching for your county hazardous waste disposal. Ours sends you a bag once a year, on request, and they contract a service to come by and pick it up at the curb. You can maybe clean out other crap in your garage to go with it.

Batteries Plus / Bulbs and Batteries takes old batteries for recycling. They're pretty much everywhere nowadays.
fwiw, throwing them in the trash is irresponsible. Like leaving shotgun shell hulls and trash after a hunt.

Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Here in The Mound, we have I think it's 3-4 "chits" we can use each year to have the local trash provider (Republic right now)come and pickup all your recyclabes/hazardous waste for free. Check with yours.

We always put them in the recycle for normal trash pickup. They let you know if you put stuff in there they dont accept... had that happen they dont say anythign about the batteries. I either take them to my parents or take them to work as we do not have recycle out where i live.

I take mine to the local battery store. They're nicer about taking them when I also buy a few new ones as replacements though

Do you mean disposable lantern batteries?
If you are talking about 6v rechargeble batteries for feeders, they are lead-acid (either AGM or Gel) and they are worth about $0.25/lb right now. Before the Covid mess, we were getting $0.45 /lb.

Around my area most of the auto parts houses will take them, you may not get anything for them but they are out of your hands.
