That's what I think. They're riding a thermal up until they get the altitude they want.
Silver spurs and gold tequila

That's what I think. They're riding a thermal up until they get the altitude they want. Yep, and when they reach the top of the thermal they will dive as far as they can until they reach the bottom of the next thermal, all without flapping their wings. Turkey vultures can soar for a helluva long time without burning much energy.
