Thoughts? His right g3 is a little wonky and seems to have a little extra on his brow tines. Left g4 is hidden in 2nd pic. I didn’t have him last year or through the summer. He just showed up a couple of weeks ago. He’s the only thing I have standing out from the 10 or 15 2-3yr old 8pts that hang around.

Childress County.

I suck at aging and scoring, but he's a very pretty buck! up

I will say, he doesn't have "a paunch" and his legs don't look short, so... confused2

Looks mature. Doesn't make 130 IMO

Mid to low 130s and yes, easily mature. Look at the eyes and with the way his neck is trying to meld into his sternum, I would say at least 5.5. Fairly long & rangy, I'll bet he's a boss in the pasture. He's got a good "look" to him.

I'm going to go against most here and say 4.5. But as Red Cloud said, "I would probably take him."

4.5, lower to mid 130s ... way to lean and lanky to be much older in my opinion. Pretty buck

Mature and low 130s

Very pretty buck

I am not seeing this buck scoring more than 125 to 130 with short beams and not very tall points. One pic he looks 5 and the other he looks 4...4 would be my guess without more pics.

I use a quick scoring method I read about that basically starts at 95 inches (average antlers) or 100 inches (heavier/wider/ longer main beams) and then add on the tine lengths., The 95/100 accounts for mass, width and main beam length measurements. I also assume the ear is 6 inches long. Using that method, I'm getting 137 if I start with 95 inches and 142 inches if I start with 100 inches. I'm actually leaning towards 142 because, even though his main beams aren't that long, he has very good mass and a good spread which I would estimate at 17-18 inches. Just my $.02 and I've been wrong before.

I do it almost exactly like you do but use 90" for an average frame, 100" for a good frame, and 110" for exceptional.
Then if the buck is symmetrical I will add up one side of tines and double it for a quick score on the fly.

He is heavy down low but doesn't carry the heavy mass out past his 2s. Also, looking at distance of his beams as compared to his nose and the distances between tines I don't see more than 22" each on them.
I'd give him this on his frame and I think I'm being generous, not conservative on it.

17 IS
44 Beams
28 Mass
89" Total

23" on Left and 21" on right in tines for 44"

133" total

Thanks guys. Here’s a couple more photos. Looking at these I think he’s smaller and possibly younger than I originally thought.

I agree
Looks 4.5 in first pic directly above but 5.5 in 2nd pic.
Low 130s would be my guess

We may have read the same article and my memory is lapsing on it. Anyways, I won't argue with your base estimate. I also assumed he was symmetrical and doubled his left side which is not correct based on the most recent pics. Also, from what I can tell, he's broken off part of his L G1 since the first photos. So if I start with a base of 90, I'm ending up in the upper 120's. I'd shoot him (or at least try) with my bow. Probably pass with my gun simply in hopes of seeing him next year. Nothing wrong with taking him now, though.
