Three generations of Sanchez’s loaded up and we headed to the Chinati Mountains of far west Texas. We had the privilege of exploring on 36,000 acres and here we are. Ethan and I paper, rock, scissored to see who would be on the trigger first. Well I lost and he wasted no time. We spotted a group of aoudad and Ethan made a phenomenal shot at 280 yds with the 26Nosler to drop a great ewe. It was his first mountain trip and to say he’s hooked is an understatement.He's 8 years old.
About 16 hours later we found 3 rams on the top side of a ridge at 1500 yds. We watched them and determined one was an old ram that we needed to go after. We shortened the distance and I got set up for a 599 yd shot with the 300PRC. I squeezed the trigger and the 14 year old ram fell in his tracks. We climbed to the top and were at an elevation of 7300 ft when we made it to him. I’ll be limiting the tortillas after this hunt!

Looks like y'all had a great hunt. The picture with you helping your son up the mountain sent me back to the memory hole. My Pop had to tow me up allot of hills down in the trans/pecos area when I was a kid. He was a long legged old boy and it wore me out trying to keep up, went up many a hill hanging on to his belt loop.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
