This large coral snake was in my shop in east Texas (Houston County) when I opened the door. As I went to get a shovel he slithered outside under my Can-Am just as my wife was walking up IN HER SANDALS with our French bulldog and she was right up against the driver side frame trying to put the bulldog into the seat. I about had a heart attack when I saw what was going on with the already excited coral snake under the vehicle. Just as I warned her he slithered back out into the shop and I was able to find him under some feed buckets. He was much larger than the ones I have killed at my home in Victoria County.

That's a dandy. It looks big enuff to skin it and make a hat band. You'll be wearing red next to yellow . . .

Wow! Only one I've ever seen was dead by the side of the road.

They don’t bother me as much as copperheads and cotton mouths. Cool snakes and i have had 3 in the last 5 years at my house outside of Nacogdoches. Got one with the shredder, it was definitely big enough for a hat band too!

Now reaching into the nesting box to find an egg sucking chicken snake in the dark... man i hate that!

A couple have been killed around here in the past few days. I guess the storm have them out moving.

I have killed 19 copperheads and 3 rat snakes in my yard this year but have not seen one of those. Snakes bite my dog, eat my eggs, and scare my wife, they die. Cool looking snake!

I used to be butt deep in snakes of all kinds, And then too many pigs moved in. Recently saw a big black snake of some kind in the front yard and got kinda excited. Wife said to kill it but I declined.

I've never seen a coral snake that large. I've seen a bunch in my life, but never one like that!!!

I've only seen one on our property (also outside of Nac) in the 30+ years we've been here, but I have no shortage of Copperheads.

Not a coral but came across this guy while using my skid steer the other day. Customer wanted his pile of rocks saved. I figured there'd be one in there so I moved slow. It was AM so I'm not sure he was fully warmed up yet but coiled like that I'm not sure it would've taken much to get my hand.

Hard not to fascinate at the coloring - Mother Nature is amazing.
