I’m trying to help a friend ID this spam can he recently inherited with other ammo and related items. Hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction.

Maybe czec or hungarian 7.62x54r from the fifties

You are correct! Added Hungarian to my search and found it. 1952 Hungarian 7.62x54 heavy lead core. 440 rounds. All reports I’ve seen say it’s good ammo.

174gr heavy ball in brass cases and Berdan primers, right? I had a couple 300 round cans of that. I loaded a couple hundred with 180gr Sierra pro hunters(.303 British) for use with a M39 Mosin Nagant for deer hunting once. Worked good too. My brother killed a couple big South Dakota Doe with them.

The info I found said copper washed steel case, 182 grain lead core.

Could be, I think mine had a yellowish strip on it. I think it's their version of sniper ammo
