We’ve had an X-Mark for maybe 6 or 8 years. Never a problem with it, other than it beats her up on our uneven ground. I mentioned that she might want a new one with a softer ride. She said no, but now says yes. So, my question is: what good quality zero turn mower has a good suspension that’ll make her mowing less painful? Suggestions?

Toro has a new one with a suspension, and I hear Gravely's touted for their ride. I'm not sure beyond that.

However, we all know the best ZTR that won't beat her up is the one that YOU use to do the mowing! laugh

Get a good suspension seat. I had a Scag Tiger Cat that was significantly more comfortable than my Hustler and the only difference was the quality of the suspension seat.

While at the mower place recently, I sat in a Grasshopper with a suspension seat. It was like sitting in a recliner. Will probably be the one I get when my ZTR dies.

Maybe you can just switch the seat out and save a lot of $$$$

Gravely is a good ZTR. You can add a suspension seat for 500$ to the ZTHD series, or go ahead and spring for a Pro Series- they already have the suspension seat.

Besides every time my wife wants to "help out" and mow i wind up fixing a mower. I tell her check the oil and fill it with gas and perpetually i get the call 1/2 hour later it ran out of gas and wont start lol.

We’ll sniff around the ones ya’ll mentioned. I think the hardware store in Mexia has Ferris gear. Looks good. As for me driving it, worry not. When she wanted, and got, this mower, I told her that it was hers and only hers, and I was never even going to learn to operate it. And I never did learn, and don’t plan to. I’m the tractor guy. She’s the ZTR gal. No whining and begging me to use her mower. I can’t. That really helps the division of labor.

I do gas it up, check and change the oil and hydraulic oil, and swap out blades.

Toro’s suspension looks freakin crazy comfy! Heck they’ve got stereos, lights for days. Just get your wallet out.
Anyone checked out Wright mowers yet? https://www.wrightmfg.com/

I have two JD’s and a Ferris. It does have coil springs. It is a pretty smooth ride. I have the 52 inch cut and it has a 27 hp on it. It’s a cutting beast. I will say if you maintain your equipment yourself the Ferris is harder to work on. I can change out the drive belt on the JD’s in about 30. The Ferris, which I changed out the drive belt yesterday, is also a beast to work on.

Where I live all the landscape trailers have orange machines. I figure 80+% Skagg and the rest Kubota. I didn't think I needed diesel so a Skagg here.

Hands down buy a Ferris if you want a smooth ride. Top quality lowers with real working suspension on each wheel and even an air ride seat. Be prepared for $10,000+

I have a Ferris 2100Z, and it is smooth riding. It has the 4 wheel independent coil spring suspension and a nice suspension seat. That thing will out perform my old Gravely all day long in every way. It has not proven to be hard to maintain, quite easy IMO.

I just looked up Ferris. Was not familiar with them. Do they only offer the Vanguard motor? My family has better luck with Kawisaki and honda motors.

If your current mower has nothing wrong with it, the ZTR puffer will be your best bet. My FIL bought one for the MIL and she loves it. Easy to install as well.
