I’m looking to purchase a couple scopes and I’m concerned about all of the scopes I’m looking at having the adjustable elevation turrets on top. Can these be locked down once you have them set without fear of them being bumped? It seems that most of the higher quality scopes these days have these which is fine if they can be locked somehow but honestly I really don’t have any use for them. I’m looking for something with HD glass and outstanding low light performance with a lighted reticle in the $1500-$2000 give or take range if anyone has any recommendations
I’ve always been a Leupold guy but I’m not opposed to trying something new. I was looking at the VX-5HD 3-15x56mm CDS-ZL2 but I’m seriously confused since optics have changed so much in the last decade. Any help would be appreciated guys,

The guns they will be going on are a 6.5 PRC and a 300 PRC, neither of which will ever be used for super long range shooting, just average Joe southern hunting ranges.

The scope you’re looking at is the one I would recommend for what you’re wanting. The Zero Lock will prevent any bumps from turning the turret. The glass is exceptional. The next step up is the VX-6HD with more bells and whistles But the same glass for a good bit more money. I’m sure there’s other great scopes out there in your price range.

I agree, but do get the Firedot. You want that.

In that price range and power range, I would look hard at a NightForce NX8 2.5-20 on the $2000 end or a Nightforce Optics SHV 4-14X50 $1500 end.

How much dialing are you going to do? If a lot, then look at the NX8. If occasional, nothing wrong with the VX5HD or VX6HD.

Thanks for the advice guys, I went with the VX-5HD 3-15x56mm for her 6.5 PRC so I’ll post my thoughts when I get some real world experience with it.
