Looking at a cheap truck gun option in 6.5 Creedmoor. Local Academy has the Mossberg Patriot Predator available. Any thoughts on accuracy and reliability?

Look at the TC Compass as well. Academy had them at $269.

I wasn't at all impressed with the quality of workmanship of the Patriot when I first looked at one. The inconsistent gap between the free-floated barrel and stock made it look very cheaply made to me. I opted instead for a Savage Axis II when Academy offered them at a discounted price along with a free Super Combo Hunting License. The stock on the Axis isn't an attractive as that of the Patriot but the overall fit and finish is much better IMO.

I have a shot several of them and did load work up for a few. Great shooting budget gun that Ive seen hold up to the elements in a side by side and ranch truck. I take the Mossberg over the Savage or Weatherby. A good friend has one in 243 that shoots lights out with the Barnes 80 gr. TTSX. He does the opposite of baby that gun.

I took a look and they are $299 right now but... there is a Thompson Center $50 rebate available right now on that model.

I have a mossberg patriot predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. It’s cheaply made and pretty sloppy, but will get a two inch group at 200 yards. It should be fine as a truck gun.

Thanks guys. Went with the 6.5 CM Patriot Predator. Nice and light. Should do the trick easily.

My 308 shoots way better than the price suggest.
