I am now a proud member of the 300 Ham'r club and can't wait for rifle season to open.

I have a few questions maybe Bill can answer-

18" Barrel shooting 135gr FTX mainly whitetail hunting.
I'm mounting the scope this weekend and sighting it in, what range should I zero it? 150yards?
What have you found to be the maximum range without holdover/scope adjustment for deer sized targets?

Also, when your team at the factory assembles uppers do they do anything special like lapping the receivers or torque the barrel nut on and off multiple times? I'm interested in learning and I'm sure others on the forum would love to know any Wilson Combat recommendations when assembling rifles.

Thanks for your time Bill.

For deer season I zero at 150yds which is about 1" high at 100yds and 1" low at 200yds. In the off season when I'm only hunting hogs I zero at 100yds and rarely shoot farther than that.

I can't share our rifle build secrets, but I can tell you we really focus on a correct bbl install, making sure the gas key slides over the gas tube smoothly (an accuracy killer if it doesn't) and that the extractor is positioned and tensioned right. We also install long life heat resistant chrome silicone ejector/extractor springs and a helical one piece gas ring. Most models also get a chrome silicone flat wire buffer spring too.
