Did a creek bottom stalk, hot and covered with lots of mosquito spray, shorts and sleeveless shirt were not a good choice but it was too hot for pants. So I am trying some new ammo, 3oo gr jhp Steinel and a new bolt in my 458 Socom. It ran perfect. 3 Hogs with 3 shots, they all just dumped in place and kicked a couple times but no follow up shots were necessary. The sow had 3 legs, looks like she was born that way ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-63722-253215-piig915.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-63722-253216-pigg915.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/09/full-63722-253217-pig_915.jpg) to me.

It seems an animal with three legs can get around reasonably well, particularly if they're missing a front leg. Looks like she didn't miss too many meals along the way… Nice work! Sounds like a good morning.
You can never have too much ammo unless you're swimming.

Good Kills!
Actually dT, I think it is the other way around. Missing a hind leg is easier on an animal such as a hog. Both front legs are needed for steering and when bending down for food. The front legs support more weight than do the hind legs.

I was thinking that the hind legs provided more locomotion, wasn't thinking about steering.

Actually guys I have no ideas if she had wheels or not but I am guessing she could get around, just not this time. I snuck up to a known bedding area and scanned the thicket until I came up with black hog hair and guessed where the spine was, no telling which end was the head. So, any hoot, she squealed a bit but never got to her feet!

Hey Chopper, you still around? God bless you brother! I built a 458 to kill a Nilgai really because I shot one in the neck with the 6.8 and it got up and ran off, no trace! But, I lost my Nilgai place so the next best thing is mini Nilgai!

I'm new to this forum and was pleasantly surprised when I saw you post something. Hope you are doing well and I see you still know how to find the hogs in daylight.
