Here in Coleman County, our live oaks are making a relatively decent crop but they're falling early. Not that live oak acorns are worth anything.
Our post oaks suffered terribly from the summer's drought and are BADLY stressed. Forget acorns; they've already lost 70-80% of their leaves...looks like November.
Haven't seen the blackjacks making anything either, even the ones here at the house that get pampered.
The feeder hunters should have easy pickings this year.

Dang few at my place South of Bowie. I have mixed emotions about them. Last year we had a bumper crop and saw very few deer. But, IMO, they contribute to a healthier crop of deer. I like that and would prefer healthy animals instead of easy hunting.

Took pictures of the acorn crop today and this Burr Oak is loaded. Hoping they drop early so the deer will hit the feeders when it gets cooler. Get a big Stick and start whacking

My trees are loaded this year. Right now all are pea sized, but looks like it's going to rain acorns this year!

Haven't seen a one on my mesquites. A good nursery can show you how to graft those mesquites!

Ya’ll caused me to go look at some trees. Looks like I have a decent crop of red oak acorns. Not much from the white oaks. This is why it's so important to not have a monoculture on your property. Diversity is king! I encourage landowners with a monoculture to remove some of the most prevalent species and plant some variety.

This reminds me to see if the local feed store has any of the White Oak Acorn flavored corn. Deer and pigs love that stuff. At least they did last year.

Seeing quite a few on the blackjack oaks and Live oaks, not as much on the post oaks. Live oaks started dropping nice acorns about 2 weeks ago
