I have a budget of around 1500 for a long tail mud motor for a 14 pintail piroque that is coming out of MS. What is the best bang for the buck

Honda or Briggs and Stratton Motor ( what I have seen so far)
Around 10 HP is all I need. Not interested in going fast just interested in getting there and back

Looking for personal experiences with the smaller ones. All the marketing material looks the same after awhile

Ever heard of the thai longtail kits? I have one from SPS it is on a harbor freight predator engine which costs around 100 bucks..

It may not be what you are looking for but it is an affordable setup and gets me and my 12 ft alumacraft into trouble.

Backwater Swomp for durability.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I have a backwater motor with 5 hp Honda on our 14 ft Jon boat and it does pretty good in our small marsh. Been a great motor. Just re mounted it today and it started right up.

If I had to get a new motor I'd buy one of these and slap the 22hp predator engine on it.

Those pintails aren't rated for very much HP. Better check on that before pilling the trigger on anything. I'd recommend a Backwater swomp lite

HP rating does not mean much, weight of the motor does. Talk to boat manufacturer to understand max weight you want, then go for the most HP you can get for the weight. That’s what I did with my momarsh.
