So I'm talking to a guy while standing in the line for ammo. He tells me about an area, close to Walnut Bend that is public on the Red River where a lot of people ride ATV's on Corps land and do some target shooting. I wouldn't mind seeing it, but before making the drive, anyone know about this spot? He told me it was pretty remote, but gets regular use by the few that know about it. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone that has some first hand knowledge about it. Thanks.

As to not ruin the spot, look up Lake Texoma hunting areas on the Corp site.

It's illegal to drive an atv on corps property.
Also people hunt back there. So remember that when you're joy riding shooting guns.

The target shooting would not be legal either. I used to run around up there as a young man on both sides of the river. It was kinda a no man's land with very little enforcement. Locals rule kinda place. I would tread lightly up there today and definitely a lot more than a few know about it.

I'm a serious hunter. That's why I asked here, rather than go off of what I was told by a stranger. I'll also contact the Tulsa Corp office and know exactly what the rules and regulations before I go. Thanks for the info.

Back in the day Texas plates in the sticks on the OK side of the RR would get your ride ganked.

There is a privately owned piece of land west of their that has established trails for riding, Northwest of Muenster.

Not sure where it's done but when I travel up I35 towards Gainesville I see a LOT of 4 wheelers being trailed coated with red mud.

Been all over that part of North Texas, raised in Wichita Falls, lived in Wise County 25 years before moving to Lewisville/Flower Mound. Frequent Blue Ostrich, Red River BBQ in St. Jo and not long ago Ancient Ovens, now closed.
