Went to the farm this evening. Arrived at 640 pm, got my gear out, walking to my spot for the day (NE wind is tough here - blows towards the creek/woods), spotted a lone boar in the pasture headed toward the hanging feeder. I dropped my gear and got my rifle uncased and loaded, and made a short stalk to keep the wind right. Less than 10 min after pulling up I lined up just in front of his shoulder on the neck. Dropped and did the curly shuffle, but he got up and ran squealing into the woods, but definitely a dead pig i think. I looked briefly for him but I still had daylight and didt want to tear the woods up. I dont think he was my big boar I'm looking for. I'll go back tomorrow to find him i hope.
Hit a big boar at about 150yds with my 30-30 Friday morning. He did the helicopter thing and disappeared in the tall grass when the whole sounder came running through. Hit another medium size hog and it fell but too disappeared. I could hear a loud squealing in the trees so I figured I had at least one down in there so I was prepared to to be taking one home. Jumped in the truck and got stuck in a deep mud hole. Took a few minutes to get out and went to look for my pig(s). To my amazement there was not a drop of blood from either and I never found either pig.
