I've put in for the same 3 hunts for seven years. Never was drawn. This year I got drawn for all 3. Going to be a busy Nov. & Dec.

Yes the cubing has me puzzled, we drew 3 antlerless hunts, figured we had no chance. They average preference point of the hunters in the group, one the group had 2 preference points, one had 3 points, and one had 4 points. Those are not very many points to draw 3 different times, I wonder if the cubing is actually working as intended.

The thing to consider is that those persons with a lot off points are more likely going to only apply for the more coveted hunts rather than the easier to draw hunts. Especially now that the points are cubed. And luck still applies. Someone with only 1 point can still draw any hunt. My party was drawn for alligator 5 years in a row back when alligator hunting was new and it was only murphree. On top of that we only put in for the first hunt date on each of those years. The area manager at the time wanted to know who we knew in austin considering he himself had put in for it every year and had never been drawn. It was just luck. I was drawn for gun deer either sex this year with 27 points. I am almost relieved as there are several hunts in that category I will apply for next year with one point that I never would have ever considered during the last 20 years for fear of wasting those double digit points on a lesser hunt.

I think I will apply for more categories with low points for better opportunity of getting picked. As my points gain strength I will probably start backing off for the more coveted hunts. I have good numbers in Alligator, Mule Deer, Pronghorn and Exotic so we shall see what the future holds.

Congratulations Bigfoot. I have had great years and bad years. So far this year, nothing. Not convinced the "Cube"system is any better.

Looks like I'll get blanked this year unless I get lucky on a mule deer draw. Put in for all of them but only carrying 4 points so odds are not in my favor. But I have a line on some places that will let me take a couple of does so the freezer will still get filled.

Dont congratulate me yet. I havent even listed what I won yet. I did win a spot on the trinity river at one of the wma's just north of houston, Its only about 1.5 hours from my doorstep. Its for 4 deer and unlimited hogs. Im only interested in the hogs unless I see a nice rack. But I am not expecting that in such a small tract of land
