I've been kicking around buying an Electric Bike for hunting for a few years now, went ahead and ordered one today. Found out yesterday I have a broke bone in my right foot and the gout I had been fighting was from the injury. Ended up with soft cast and boot for a couple of months give or take. Dr. told me to stay off my foot if not would be seeing me in the operating room. With Bow season a few weeks off not the best time to end up with a boot on my right foot. I figured I could ride a electric bike right up to my stand. Seems to make sense but will know once this thing shows up.

I tried to read up and get up to speed on electirc bikes. I tried to buy a middle of the road. I ordered a Gravity Monster 750 watt fat tire electric bike. I wanted a QuiteKat which seem to be popular with hunters, but didn't want to drop that kind of money.

My fugal wife was not cazy with all the toys I have but its not going to change our life style. Maybe now I can go bike riding with her LOL.

Its supposed to ship in a couple of days, should get it late next week or early the following.

Its seems like good plan, broke foot or not. Seems like I should be able to ride right up to my ladder stand, tripod or my one of my box blinds and out make much noise. Quiter than my 4 wheeler or my loud as all get out 4x4 tahoe hunting buggie.

Anybody else hunt off ebike

Thanks, Billy

Thanks, Billy

I haven't gone the ebike route yet, but I just got a Gravity Monster fat bike. Really impressed with it for the price. I have bought a few of their bikes before and have always been happy. I'm anxious to hear how you like the ebike.

Hope the foot heals up well!

For once I'm going to be smart with this foot or at least try to. Pretty sure I banged my foot moving a tripod a while back.

I bought this e bike from a place called Bike Shop Warehouse, I think they are in California. Before I placed the order online, called the 800 number and a guy named David answered second ring. Said they had one in stock, woudl ship in a couple of days. Not often someone answers a phone and will talk to you.

Thanks, Billy

Honestly, Gringo, riding an electric bike off road to your hunting locality with a broken foot your doctor said to stay off of lest you end up with surgery sounds like a really bad idea. It is a good idea until something doesn't go right and you have to put your foot down. I say this given that this is your first electric bike and first times learning to ride it and ride it to the stand and you will be doing it with one foot you can't put down if something goes wonky.

If you opt to learn to ride as a peg leg, be extra extra careful.

I need to be careful around tripods that for sure. It took a while to jog my memory, but pretty sure I banged my foot trying to move a tripod!!! lol.

Sell the bike and get a ground blind. Drive to it with a UTV.

Great advice in my opinion. Murphy will love to give you the opportunity to put the injured foot down to avoid breaking a shoulder. But, you do you!

Get out on the streets and get some real time practice before you go to the pasture.

This sounds like a nice safe way to go hunting.

How about one of these, "The Rig", then gift it to someone else in need after you recover.

Buy a sidecar so she can ride a long, it will also have 3 wheels so you can tell her it is now a trike.

My brother uses them in Montana in the mountains to get in and out of stands quietly. They work great. He actually has a rich older friend that bought them for himself to get around but he never uses them so he gave them to my brother. They are like 3k each.

I'm 70 years old. Bought a Sondors (SONDORS.COM) fat tire electric about 6 years ago and i use it all the time to scout and ride to my hunting spots.
Here's a bit of advice: practice a bit before you hit the woods. Braking and acceleration should be like driving a car-natural and without thinking about it.
Buy and use a helmet. After that buy and use GLOVES. The first things that hit anything if you're dumped is your hands and your head!

Speed is not your friend. Riding off road is a lot rougher than you think. Control is your friend.

But you'll find that rolling up on feeding deer and other game that have no fear of what they don't understand is a real treat.
Just be careful and have fun. I can almost guarantee you will dump it once or twice.

The Gravity Monster Ebike version is what i bought. From what little I know its a lot of bang for the buck.

Thanks, Billy

buying any bike whether it be an electric or standard pedal bike, make sure that the tires are quality brands.
Tires are probably the number one modification you can make to any bike.
If a bike is a lower end model, you can bet they trimmed the cost by installing tires that aren't going to hold up, and will more than likely put you on the ground before you know what just happened.
I had a mountain bike that I bought new, and it was a top brand but lower end on price. It had knobby tires but I fell more than a couple of times where I was making a slow turn on loose dirt and the front wheel just washed out and put me on the ground.
The rubber was extremely soft, and the knobs would roll as I turned.....I put some good and not cheap tires (Continental) on that bike and the problem went away, and the grip was like I was on rails, even on loose dirt, sand, and gravel.
If you are old, and don't like falling onto rocks and cactus, then you might want to take a look at those tires!

I've got several bikes I accumulated over 20 years of riding mountain bikes, so that is just my 2 cents.
