Thinking about an Ranger EV.
Love the quietness for not disturbing game animals. Gas models are just unbelievably loud.
Know the batteries are a cost every 4-5 years and it only has 30hp, I know, I know.

Curious if any of you guys own one (or owned one) and if you like it, hate it, or want to roll it off a cliff.

My buddy had 4 of them on his 5k acre ranch. They were louder then you think ( you still had tire noise, they were not ninja silent) had a limited range ( small places with electricity would be fine ) and were small machines. Heavy too with all those batteries.

We used to take them out hunting and they were a novel idea at first but they rotated them out eventually and went back to gas motors.

I would stick with gas. Go look at can am if you need a quiet gas motor

New gas ones seem to be much quitter these days anyways

I always thought that a hybrid would make more sense than a "straight" EV-type vehicle. Use the gas to cover the longer distances from camp and the electric to sneak in the last few hundred yards. And with the hybrid, in theory, you wouldn't have to deal with recharging back at the camp or running out of electrons in the boondocks.

Bad Boy Buggies had one out for a while but I've never seen one in the field. On-line reviews weren't very good with most issues relating directly to BBB design/quality items.

I don’t own an electric SXS, but my cousin does, and we’ve discussed it quite a bit. His is a Bad Boy, and he sure was proud of it when he got it one summer (NE Louisiana), when the woods were not super wet. Real quiet machine, and I was thinking about one for myself. The problem showed up when the weather, as it always does in winter, turned the woods roads and paths into mud. Deep sticky ‘gumbo’ mud. For a SXS or ATV to work well in those conditions, your vehicle has to have 4 spinning wheels to sling off the mud, or the mud will bring you to a halt. And that’s what happened to the BB Buggy, and it caused the batteries to suck down fast. He finally gave it to his wife and bought gas engine machines. I think he uses John Deere SXS now (he owns the dealership).

Bottom line, the way I see it, is that if you hunt in dry areas or areas with that thin runny south Texas mud, you’d be fine with a BB Buggy. You’d be less happy in thick gummy mud.
