When talking about deer at camp, do you rely on main frame descriptions or you use total points?

Mixed bag with our group with points being prevalent.

I use mainframe + extra points....so if a buck is a 6x6 with one NT point..he has 13 points total. I will also use right side points first..so if a buck is a 6x5 typical frame...you would know he is 6 pt typical on the right side and 5 typical on the left. Point total is not a good reference for identifying a buck for me.

With all the camera's now. We can pretty much look at the photos and name the bucks and then just talk about them.

I really don't see how that is politically correct at all stxr.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I tend to run with Ranch Man's methodology. Main frame 8 with a kicker for example.

Interesting question and has some discussion value(allegedly.) Way to go Hud. Stx pretty much right on again. Although I say left first(like reading a book-left to right, why right first?) Any real prominent feature like "the real wide 8" or the "tall 10" or the "typical 12" or right now a huge buck is at a particular stand a lot so we just call him by the stand name. Eventually as a buck becomes known within the group he will usually get a nickname that sticks which I personally dont like to personalize a deer by giving it a name but it does help for reference as they are referred to often.

We just say he was a “big (expletive.)“

The severity of the expletive told you what you needed to know.

My bad, that post should have read, An alleged main frame 8 with a kicker for example. Pardon me, I was not thinking.
