With now being the most important time of year to walk and spray the perimeter of your home in order to protect it from termites, I thought I might be a good idea to share the product you prefer most. Not sure who recommended it to me, but I've found Bifen IT to be very effective in killing just about anything capable of crawling up the side of your slab. Not the cheapest product but a lot less expensive than home repairs. Bifen IT

My pest guy uses Bifen for spiders, fleas and ticks. For termites he uses Taurus S/C.

I used Advance to kill the carpenter ants. It worked.

I'm sure there are many others like me that weren't aware of generic insecticides that cost less.

I don’t think you can buy Chlordane anymore. Terro powder works great on carpenter ants.

I’ve been using Sevin dust on fire ants. Stir the nest area until they all come boiling out and starting powdering them. Works for me.

Best termite and ant killer is vital nowadays. I had problems with them in my previous house.

Yep. It was still on the market when I built my house. I mixes it as directed and poured it in al my beams before they poured the concrete. Several neighbors had termite problems but non for me.

since clordane is unavailable, I found a beta-Cyfluthrin based product to work pretty good (ingredient in Tempo Ultra) for a long-lasting (5-yrs) trench/perimeter protection against termites. You can buy cost-effectively at Home-Depo, as the 'Bayer Termite&Carpenter ant concentrate' - https://www.homedepot.com/p/BioAdva...and-Termite-Killer-Plus-700310/100638302follow label directions for trenching/drenching along full perimeter of foundations/structure - it lasts 5 years! and works! It's not cheap - takes several bottles (bayer) for me to do full house/garage slab - but it works, and only every 5 years! I use Demon WP sprayed outside ABOVE slab & window frames - for things like spiders & scorpions - once or twice a year.

I used some of this for carpenter ants, it nuked them. I sprayed the house and all the trees in my yard. I just realized I haven't seen a single ant in 6 months anywhere in the yard.

Tempo works great also, will last for up to 30 days.
Also having a few chickens keeps the bugs in check.
