Skinnerback’s mention of klobasneks on my other thread got me to thinking that I needed to get some deer hunting breakfast snacks ready. We all those love pigs in blankets, and they are so easy and quick. I make them out of Rhoades frozen dinner rolls and two packages of the Hillshire beef smokies. Thaw out the frozen rolls, cut each dough ball in half, and roll each weenie into the inside. I don’t put cheese in them, but you can. Put on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Makes 72 of them.

We freeze them in zip-lock baggies, and just get them out, as we need them. Sixty seconds in the microwave for 6 of them is about perfect, and they are wonderful with spicy brown mustard!!

Made them many times. Always great. I roll them in melted butter before packing.

That's a lot of work. Wouldn't last me long.

Not much time or effort at all. Simply smash the sausages into the dough, and pinch closed. Well within my self-imposed 60 minute limit for meals. smile

That’s what I’m talking about Sir!

I make a variety of different ones and freeze as well, great quick meals. It’s more work but I make homemade bread and stuff with either sausage & cheese/ ham & cheese/ bacon egg & cheese/ brisket jalapeño & cheese, or chorizo egg & cheese. Chorizo, smoked sausage, & pan sausage homemade. I love those things and take pride in making and sharing them.

My Sister makes them just like yours on the regular and they are always great! Her step Dad & my step Grandfather is from Checkislovakia (sc), and corrected me long ago on the difference between klobasneks, kolaches, and pigs in the blanket lol.

klobasneks, kolaches, and pigs in the blanket

I don’t not care what they’re called, I’ve never been mad at one in my 39 years. Ever.

Ever ever ever! roflmao food

These look great! Skinner, yours sound great! This thread makes me almost as happy as sausage ball time!

Never done the Dijon, always used plain ol yellow mustard. I grew up on those every morning at the cleaners.
DV’s donuts next door. She made the heck out of them

we have tried various types of frozen breads/rolls but the dough just isn't the same as homemade. We stop in at Hruska's in Ellinger or Weikel's in La Grange and buy a variety when we are going/returning from visiting daughter/family in Katy. I am not much of a bread type maker but would love to find a good dough recipe for Klobasneks.

I also found a little convenience store just east of Waco that has pretty good ones too.

X2

Seems many folks don't know the difference between a klobasnek and a kolach.
