Bumping this up for a neighbor with a new GSP.

Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy.

Mr. Oxner,

It seems that many(most?) people introduce young dogs to birds and let them find and chase them until they get old enough to steady to wing and shot. It seems you just waited until your dog was old/mature enough to steady and skipped over the find/chase part. I seem to remember the Delmar Smith book also advocated this method. Have you tried both methods and based your decision on experience?

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience.
