It too will break, not if, just when.

Murphy's law - anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

It will go wrong at the worst possible time and be the thing that causes the absolute maximum amount of trouble.

Jeff's law - Murphy was an optimist. So prepare for Murphy to come knocking on the door.

Buy a Nightforce NXS or higher line. Buy once, cry once, but it will work and keep on working.

As much as I like Nightforce, I am not as convinced about their SHV line.

Considering the time, effort, and money poured into hunting, buying a rock solid scope that will last is important and a worthwhile place to spend some $$$.

He already bought an Athlon.

No more reading on the phone. bang

I hit the eraser.

What a fine choice! Hopefully it will provide many years of fine service.

If you need one to hold zero, track if you're dialing, and have decent glass, it's going to cost some money. You know that. And truck/UTV gun means it's going to get knocked around. All the more reason to buy a durable scope. If that's the rifle beside you most of the time, I don't understand why not putting a high quality scope on it.

I dont understand why people have such a hard time with this idea- Its like buying a cheap [censored] carry gun because "I'll probably never have to use it."

Sometimes a high price optic doesn't mean it's reliable. A cheap azz SWFA fixed power is reliable as are a lot of cheap azz Primary Arms optics.

No one has said otherwise. Swarovski rifle scopes aren't cheap, but I'll probably never own one. Stellar glass, weak guts. Yes, SS scopes are tough and inexpensive, they made that reputation. Low end Vortex are inexpensive and unreliable, they made that reputation.

Still trying to find the right load for the rifle, which is frustrating, but I do like the scope. One very minor issue is that Athlon put the illumination dial on top of the Parallax knob, which makes for a tall knob. With the way I have the sling attached to the AR, the knob pokes me in the back.

No doubt. I hate to say it because I will catch a lot of grief, but I've bought my last Leupold. I don't trust them to hold zero or adjust. I used to be a Leupold fanboy back in the day. Not anymore.

Yeah, I've given up on Chinese optics as well. Tried to cheap out and I just don't do it. Fully trust known good phillipines scopes, and nearly all japanese scopes, but I'd rather save up longer than buy a chinese scope

Some are made in China, and some, like this FOUR X, are made in the Philippines
