I've heard some good things on blues out there.
Can anybody confirm seeing some?

Thank you.

TheRancher on here has a large ranch out west that he leases for quail. If I recall he had a lot of blues. He hasn't posted in a while but I bet somebody on here can find him.

Most of the area I cover is east of 87 both north and south of I-20. We've had a really dry summer and just coming out of a really bad year, lost most of the birds. I'm seeing pockets of birds but not what I would call a hunt able population, I'm not shooting any birds this year. I'm seeing 3 to 5 coveys a day on the big ranch, normally that number would be 25 to 30, on a good year we're talking 50 or more with coveys of 50 to 60 birds. We just got some good rain and filled all the ponds back up so water won't be a problem and we still have some Broom Weed. West of here could be better or worse. Probably not what you wanted to hear but I cover allot of ground daily and that's what I'm seeing.

Dogs do pretty good for about the first two weeks and then I put the Pointers up and just keep a good Dead Bird dog with me (My old Gus was one of the best). It don't take long before they turn into sprinters and you pretty much have to run them down on foot. I don't have a problem finding the live birds, just the dead one's.
