Friend of mine hit the car right behind the engine at a rural RR crossing, only had the black and white crossing signs. Wasn’t wearing a helmet. He lived, but was never mentally the same. Sounds as if he never was mentally anything. Pure class right there...

It's a risk you take when you ride but can be lessened by not riding like an idiot or above your skill level and just expecting people to not see you. I'm around a year and a half now of having a motorcycle as my only vehicle so I ride every day.

High school friend of mine died that way several years back....mini van pulled out in front of him and he couldn't stop...I haven't ridden a motorcycle in 31 years and don't see the need to nowadays...too many people with their heads in their phones instead of paying attention to the roads.
My heart breaks for the person and their loved ones....terrible.

I'm still haunted by a fatal motorcycle wreck I saw when I was 14. It's the reason I never rode a motorcycle much, a trail bike on country roads, is all I ever did.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I have wrecked every motorcycle, 3 wheeler, 4 wheeler, minibike that I have ever driven. I keep my happy butt off them except at the lease.

Been there Buzz. Was first on the scene of a Ninja vs Overpass Barricade accident on I35 several years back. The guy had passed me like I was standing still a mile earlier. Shook me up enough that I haven't ridden a street bike since.

My son and another boy were killed when a guy made left turn in front of them, The boy had just got the motorcycle the day before. April 6,86. Only child and my wife and I will never get over it. He would be 50 years old but to us he has never aged. The insurance money we did not want. We gave away in scholarships so maybe it would help other kids in their lives. My deepest condolences. Funny how the one lost never ages. Not funny ha ha. Just peculiar. I am very sorry for lost.

Dang Buzz, sorry to hear you were there for that. I have lost friends and family, and have several maimed and injured on motorcycles. When I see the careless ones acting invisible, it is scary. It is only a matter of... when.

So sorry CGWBERETTA can not imagine. I took one through a 5-wire barbed wire fence running about 60 when I was 17....1982.....I should have died in that one...walked away with a couple cuts....had a couple other close calls over the years.... I'm so thankful my three sons don't ride....I cannot imagine you and your wife's pain. Prayers for y'all….

I quit riding years ago after my last trip to the ER. I'd started with mini bikes when I was a little kid and was seriously into motocross and flat track back in the 70's which is when I got my first street bike. Every accident I've had was another drivers fault, but placing blame doesnt matter much to a person that loses their life.
Years ago I had someone tell me I could get the same thrill from a convertible and he was right.

I sold that bike and it was my last ride. Like you Jes I'm so thankful that neither of my sons never had any desire to ride street bikes!

So sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine losing a child. I pray to God all the time to protect my children and if anything bad must happen, I pray that it happens to me and spare my children. I’ve never been a motorcycle fan. My best friend/brother was killed in a rollover accident (truck). Right after the funeral a close friend of ours was mourning his loss and decided to vent a little on his crotch rocket. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, went to leave and over did a wheeley. Flipped over backwards and slammed the back of his head on the pavement. He died right there.

Guy I worked with used to be the guy doing wheelies through the Toll Booths
He rode with a group out of Denton one Sunday afternoon
One guy lost it, hit the median divider rail. They found the helmet with the guys head still in it.
