Anyone have experience with a trike like this?

I started riding my Giant Anthem again back in May, 5-6 days a week, about 8 miles per trip before work in the AM. Took a tumble, had a nerve issue pop up in my back about 2 weeks later that was probably the most painful thing I’ve experienced. That’s gone (cortisone shot in the back) and I’ve been riding again about 3 weeks now. My back has been sore for 30+ years to begin with due to tumbling around in trucks before/during college and a high speed t-bone when a lady ran a red light about 10 years ago.

I can’t decide if my bike riding is aggravating my back a bit more or if it’s some holdover from the nerve thing. I was curious if one of these would help given the very different ride position.

Thanks
Charlie

I rode my old street bike, away from main streets and traffic.
I had a blast, and encountered a very curious roadrunner.

It was very fun.

I have stayed with an old, 1966 cruiser style bike from Western Auto. I tried one of the recumbents, not for me, sits too low, and I cannot see who or what is about to run me over. Side streets, and the backroads around here are not even safe.

Ive ridden and owned recumbent bikes. They're def safer than a two wheeler but more expensive than the average bike. One downside is that if you want to ride in a group they're hard to find. Even finding a riding partner can be difficult. The group I rode with is in Highland Park.

fwiw, best place to get info is an online community or a local bike whop that sells recumbent bikes. And keep an eye out on Craigslist, back when I was riding I saw a few pop up for sale.

charlie, I started getting steroid shots for lower back pain. Best thing since sliced bread, Im glad I did it.

After spending the last two days reading, watching some videos and just paying attention to my ride area, I think my chances of getting run over in a trike are pretty good! smile They are just so low to the ground... I think I'm going to look at bicycle.

I'm planning to go look at and ride a 26/20 Bacchetta tomorrow. Very curious to see what it's like. There's another 26/26 for sale but it's further away and more money. It seems from what I've read, for doing more touring vs performance riding, the 26/20 should do fine.

How often are you getting the shots and how many have you had, I thought you could only get 3 or so? For the initial 3-7 days after my first, my back was 100% pain free, truly a wonderful feeling.

4 in my back every two months. I'm now considering getting an epidural, it lasts longer.

The only one I've had so far was an epidural (done outpatient, not in-office)and it's not been two months. I'm going back to Ortho to further discuss whatever it is I have going on.

I didnt realize I had back/neck problems until I went to the emergency room a couple years ago thinking I was having a heart attack. It was a pinched nerve in my shoulder/neck that caused the pain. Worst pain I've ever experienced, morphine didn't help much. And thats saying a lot considering I've been both shot AND stabbed. I have a high tolerance for pain, but this was something entirely different.

I’d research regenerative medicine not degenerative cortisone epidurals

Yep, I've been looking at stem therapy.
