Swarms of mosquitos blown up in Looseyana and killing cows, horses and deer - sucks big time.

five parishes east and NE of the where the storm went through detailing in excess of 300 head of livestock dead.

Haven't ween anything like that in our area....Bossier

That's crazy! Probably a stupid question, but did they die from blood loss or disease from the mosquitoes?

How close to the coast were they found dead?

I remember hearing stories like that as a kid but Dayam! That's nuts.

This was the front of my pickup from driving from Rockport to Fairfield a couple weeks after Harvey....Between Tivoli and Victoria was the worst.

Driving through the clouds of mosquitos was like driving through fog in some areas. Had to stop several times to clean the windshield because the wipers couldn't keep up. That's over a 1/4" thick in most places.....think about how many tiny mosquito's that is....

Veterinarian Craig Fontenot of Ville Platte said the swarms drain animals' blood and animals also become exhausted from constantly moving in an attempt to avoid the biting insects.

"A deer rancher lost about 30 of his 110 animals, many of which already had been sold, Fontenot said."

Evidently, the loss of too much blood created an oxygen deprivation issue.
