That’s no fun in a big truck. It’s long. It’s pretty dang high. And it’s way too narrow. Passing other trucks, I just knew I was going to clip a mirror in a new and expensive truck. I got over that pretty quick when I hugged the white line too close and the “shoulder” yanked me towards the edge. I got across the Mississippi and felt relieved until I realized I had to do it all over again to get across the Ohio. Those are some big rivers.

I was pulling a 24' gooseneck cattle trailer when I crossed the Mississippi in Memphis. I did not like it one bit. I also hated driving across the Harbor Bridge in Corpus twice a day going to work and then coming home when I lived in Portland...especially on foggy days and there always seemed to be a wreck.

Yike. I remember 40+ year ago family pulling about 27" bumper pull travel trailer across one of those narrow bridges across Red River. With front wheel well mounted extended mirrors and rollout canopy rails on passenger side camper, we got clipped by an coming big rig and pushed us into passenger side rails of bridge. We were lucky. Pucker factor for sure crossing those old steel relecks.

I'd find another route.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

We used to ride bikes over this one in the 60's. Scary since the middle was steel mesh and you could see through it down to the river. It was fun watching it raise and lower for the barges.

Been over this one 100's of times and still gives me the willies because it swings in the wind...FYI that is a 1000 foot long freighter going under it.

I think I will, Bill. I hadn’t planned on going through Kentucky, but for some reason, they couldn’t get me permits for Illinois. I’m going to push a little harder for that, next time.

My boss had to one-up me, of course. He said that he had to take a coiled tubing unit across this bridge, and, of course, in the snow. Coiled tubing units are big. I wouldn’t want to do that, at all, but as you can see in the video, those are railroad tracks going through the middle of it. So yes, they had to watch for trains coming through on top of it all.

On narrow bridges and barracaded lanes, I always watched the right rear end of my trailer. It was the easiest way to keep two or three inches away from the barrier on the right side.
