Show me what you have.. my oldest is wanting to get into bow hunting so I need to figure something out. I’m not a fan of hunting on the ground in a pop up nor do I want to purchase a fiberglass enclosed blind with bow windows. Thinking a quad pod would be the ideal route and somewhat safer than putting him in a hanging stand.
We’re hunting out west with mainly oak and mesquite, few cedars, but nothing real tall. We also have plenty of rattlesnakes which is part of why I don’t like to hunt on the ground.
Show me your set up if you have a pic. Did you fabricate something. I can do a little welding if I find a good plan.

Out West with small oaks and mesquites I use tripod stands tucked back in trees so there is some cover. In Mississippi I prefer Summit climbing stands and feel as secure in them as I do my tripods. One of those tripods I killed 5 bucks 4 coyotes and several hogs that were also clueless. 4 of those bucks were less than 20 yards when shot.

For the West where there are plenty of rattle bugs I have used 6' fence panels to put popups on. Never have had a snake in one that way like I have with them on the ground.

Also I do like natural blinds but that puts you on the ground. One of the beast setups I have had was along a trail they used a lot getting to and from a feeder, there was an oak there with lots of careless weeds around it and they traveled along that cover line a lot. Cleaned out under the oak very good and cut some shooting holes in the weeds. Had multiple deer less than 10 yards that had no clue I was around.

Wish I had pics of those setups

I own one and really like it. We can hunt 2 adults comfortably in in. Takes a couple of adults to build it but its pretty solid. And a good price.

Thanks. I was thinking of building something like that, but that’s not a bad price. I know those seats can get a little pricey by themselves

I usually want to be of the ground and snakes is part of that. You sit more still I guess. That said, years ago I'd scout around a little mid-day and if I found a really good spot I would move away and disturb it as little as possible and then come back the next day and sit. either on the ground ora small folding stool. My experience was that would work for one day and after that the deer must have been through at night and using the same spot was not worth much. So, no problem with the ground.
Has anyone ever had a rattlesnake come up and mess with them while you've sitting? All I've seen is when I'm moving around.

We set up scaffold blind last spring, 2 tiers high and wrapped it with cammo mesh, we just put plywood on the sides and made a roof for it a couple of weeks ago. Didn't get to do the cammo paint yet, maybe after deer season. But it's plenty big for 2.

A two man quad pod would probably be best. However, I think I know generally the type area you are in and those mesquites dont do much to hide you. There are some threads on here with pics of guys that built pretty much natural ground blinds and you can add cattle panels and such to use as a framework to add extra camo material. Snakes can always be a concern so if you cant get past that then get in the air and try to add backdrop to the quadpod and be real still.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

I've seen guys use pallets and that's just enough to keep the separation from the snakes, sometimes!!!
