As I drive up to my feeder to fill and to pull sd cards..about 30 turkeys were inside feeder pen eating corn..they all flew away when they saw me..all except this Jake..

We used to have a group of about 40 hens. EVERY morning they flew down and go to the neighbors fence it was just like this. They'd walk the fence for half an hour, then finally one would remember to FLY over it and off they would all go. They are not smart birds at all.

They are pretty dumb birds (very keen senses) but dumb.
On the King Ranch I shot one out of the back of a truck with a 243 at 100 yrds, after the shot there must have been 20-30 out of that group that ran down the fence line straight to the truck. One old feller then shot one at 10 yrds with a 218B and they still were running around the truck and didn't fly.
