Does ozonics really work as good as they say it does? Is it really worth getting one?

The marketing is surely working for the company especially the one that Will Primos says he liked it so much he tried to buy the company. Now that's a good promo IMO. But do they work?

I heard someone saw a deer while using one, once, so it clearly does work.

Do you want to improve your hunting experience, or do you just want to see more deer, regardless of how you accomplish that?

I suspect it works to an extent. I would be interested in trying one-I have a few locations that are nearly impossible to hunt due to wind, and the blind-location is unavoidable. I tried to buy one somebody had listed on here years ago but for some reason he didn't want my money, ignored my PMs.

I have lucky underwear to that works to an extent as well and am willing to sell them for less than Ozonics.

People swear by HECS suits to stop animals from sensing your electromagnetic fields.

People swear by scent control clothing as if it could magically stop you from exhaling scent or dropping thousands of skin cells per hour.

People swear by certain types of camo.

People swear by solunar tables as if the animals are somehow tied to the position of the moon, not just the fish for which the tables were developed, but ALL animals.

Here is a test that is sometimes cited as proof. Notice how much is going into this. Notice that the target is in an enclosed environment that has been saturated by ozone in preparation before entry and sat inside the box with the ozone generator running. This is NOT how ozone is used in the field and is potentially hazardous to the user. Never mind all the other stuff that was being done as well.
https://www.fieldandstream.com/does-scent-control-work/

What is interesting to note is that when people are successful when using a product such a a HECS suit, new camo, scent locker, scent cover, etc., they attribute the success to the product they are using. If they don't have luck despite using said product, there are claims such as "Well, the deer/hogs just weren't moving." "I must have been making too much noise." "Other hunters scared away the game." In other words, there is no way for the product to fail as failure is always attributed to other factors, success only being attributed to the new product. In other words, it becomes non-falsifiable.

Often times, people will modify their own behavior, albeit unconsciously, to make the product work better. There are people who actually got better gas mileage using magnets on their fuel line, using the vornado, etc. Some people really do get better gas mileage when they use them because they start driving better. The products themselves don't actually work. Pretty soon, they are back to their crappy gas mileage despite using the product and that is because their behavior changed.
https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0057-gas-saving-products

Then there is the factor of buyer embarrassment. Nobody wants to admit to spending big bucks on a piece of garbage.

Looking at some reviews, it is interesting to see where you can get better results with a $11 spray (4.5 stars) than with $530 Ozonics generator (3.5 stars).

It is your money. If you want to experiment and spend/waste your money on the hunting equivalent of get-rich-quick-schemes, go right ahead.

Sounds eerily similar to corn supplement discussions. 😁

Nothing will beat a good scent control routine. I do however, have one of the machines that plugs into a cigarette lighter in my truck, and it seems to do a decent job.

Jack Daniel's cover scent used to work for my uncle.

Yep but a $25-$50 scent tool may be a more discretionary $ option willing to risk that some multiple hundred $ machine. I do use commercial scent sprays but also always just step in cow patties, rub juniper, oaks, pine needles etc that is my hunting area on my boots, pants, body hands before walking in and use the wind. if wind is not right pick a different hunt location. I do not hunt a location if wind is not favorable to my set up so as to help limit educating the deer to my presence.

Does Ozonics work? Probably helps to some extent but so many factors also involved. If someone gifted me a unit, I'd use if not burdensome but I ain't spending my $ on it.

What about when we exhale? We blow human scent into the air. Does Ozonics or anything else control this?

In theory, the ozonics unit is supposed to send ozone molecules into the air stream which bathe your scent particles and cover the smell you create. This is to include anything exhaled or lingering on clothes, dead skin, etc....in theory.

In practicality, I can tell you the molecules of ozone that would be generated by these units is useful for maybe a range of about 2-3 feet away from the unit and then it is going to degrade naturally or just waft away with a good breeze spread so thin it cant cover enough. Why I say that is I used a ozone generator in a clothes closet all last season to keep my clothes fresh. When I would open the closet (it was not a tight closet as it had some small openings in the bottom and back) it would give me a good scent of ozone that would be within 2-3 feet of the closet but further would be imperceptible, and would only last for a few seconds, longer if the unit was still creating (30min cycle). This was in a garage where there is no breeze normally unless doors are opened and with a breeze the scent is nearly gone immediately.

Now I know my nose is no where near that of a game animal or dog. but how much really can these things cover up or destroy human scent in the wild? Maybe if you were using one in a box blind or pop up there might be "some" benefit. But then again, I have had deer literally under my feet while in a box blind and I have had plenty of deer walk in down wind of me and they don't spook off. I don't use any ozonics or such stuff in the field. And this is not even bringing up the fact every ozone generator tells you not to be in an enclosed space with it since ozone is toxic to humans....

I suspect thermals and wind currents have been responsible for more good reviews of hunting gizmos than anything else. I'm firmly in the "Not Worth the Money" camp. Keep yourself clean and hunt the wind- that's about a good as you can do.

Dr. James Kroll did a test study on them and has a video out on his results. He was positive about the units tested what they learned from it. He even talked about it last week on North American Whitetail TV show.

I wonder who paid for the research. I don't see where it ever made it into the wildlife or biology journals.

I’d have to google Ozonics, I don’t have a clue.

Thanks, Billy

No it doesn't. Scent control, sprays, gadgets, gimmicks are just that.......a farce. People will buy anything.

If Ozonics really work....every unit they could manufacture would be shipped to Mexico. The drug cartels would buy them
all to hide the smell of various kinds of drugs. just my two cents worth.

So it wouldn't be a big clue when DHS opened the shipping container that there were 10 Ozonics units running inside?
