I have 15 PP for Gun Deer either sex, have applied for Chaparral for 15 straight years. This year I decided I'd have more fun at a place like Powderhorn with a chance for 2-3 exotics as well. So I applied for Powderhorn with 15 points. We'll see. I've met guys who had 20+ points for Chap and still never got picked. Its tough, I've been there for Javelina hunts and seen the quality deer. But Powderhorn looks really fun, with a chance for multiple species of exotics.

I have 14 PP for Gun Deer either sex. I put in for about 6 or 7 different WMA's each year. I got drawn for WT back in 97 or 98 for Kerr WMA.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I have a long way to go to recover my points for that category. I knew a guy that won the Chap twice and was put on the front of a hunting magazine for doing it. I told him that I was going to start applying for the Chap and he tried to talk me out of it. How do you do 1 thing and then try and tell someone else to do the opposite? I think we know the answer to that question and I have applied every year to the Chap despite his 'advice".

I don't think there are any "bad" WMA hunts, and all have quality deer. You just have to look long and hard, and be willing to pass on small ones. I usually base my choices on the draw dates, and how it fits into our scheduled hunts out here. Sometimes, I don't apply for a good hunt because of conflict with dates. That said, in the last 10 years I have hunt Chap 3 times, Choke Canyon North Shore, and Matador. Always play if you can.

Agree with [iBlank[/i]... Used topo USA ta do scouting @ home, used copiers make map of area, with gps quardanance, parking & areas wanted ta scout... Used the any legal means hog only hunts ta get familiar with area, scrapes, rubs, trails... With the 24-7-365 hunting pressure on privet land.... WMA's can be some major hot spots for hogs & deer due ta limited hunting regulations... Just my
