I acquired about 100 acres of good Sunflower fields from my neighbor. These 3 fields are along side Sandy Creek, so plenty of water and roosting trees. Price is $100 a day per person starting Sept. 1st opening day. I don't have any lodging available. Fields are located about 7 miles SW of Breckenridge, south of Hubbard Creek Lake off of FM 576. Will Land Owner mow strips in the sunflowers before the season starts?

Yes he will.

How is the dove crop looking at your place. I haven’t seen many so far this year. Graham is not looking good.My buddies in Albany aren’t covered up either.

About average to a little below average, but it's changes every week. I've seen it loaded a couple of weeks before season and a lot disappear just before season. I've also had where there were very few birds two weeks before season and by opening day I'm covered up. 20 years selling dove hunts, there's no way to predict doves, at least I don't know how. Set the table for them and see what happens, about all I know.

Seeing a lot of whitewings the past few days.

A lot of birds here this morning. Seems the mourning doves came in with the front. Seen more mourning doves this morning that I have this year. Whitewings are still here too. Now if they'll all just stay, lots of feed for them here.

How are the fields gonna be for opening weekend with all the rain you think Stompy?

May have to walk in, don't know yet. 3" here but it was very dry, a lot if not all will soak in. Not sure about roads yet.

I started looking at this post out of curiosity because I only have sub-standard public land to hunt on and the pictures of the field caught my attention. I realized that I used to own the property across the road from this field and never got to hunt it. For years, the owner wouldn't let anyone hunt over there.
