The sign hanging from the buck's neck should also include the name given to him by lease members.

This would be funny if it weren't so true about modern lease hunting.
Billy Joe and the lease manager approach you as you're skinning your deer. Both have big screw-you frowns. (Lease manager speaks) " Uh. . .Billy Joe has been watching this buck and has it on his cameras several times. . ."

Oh believe me. I have hunted 60 years and with lots of jerks. 13 years ago I decided to do it the right way so I found a place I could run it the right way. Rules are clearly laid out and basic, common sense. Break them and you are gone. No room for puffed up "I gonna kill whatever the hell I want." Those types will never kill a 120 inch buck in their lifetimes. So we do things in a fair manner but the right way. Otherwise it becomes total chaos. Been there and done that - no thank you. So again - to each his own

So I would think that if a nice buck that fit the lease requirements for a shooter passed through someone's area and another person had " seen " the buck " first " , that the second person would have to let the buck walk ?

Not even close. Community stands. Nobody "owns" or has rights to a certain deer. First come first serve. We have deer that are kill deer (must be 6 or older) and deer that are do not kill deer that are not mature yet. We let our bucks get to their full potential by letting them mature. Takes lots of patience. We have let many 180 inch plus bucks walk because they were not mature yet. They grew into 190 to over 200 inch deer.
The deer in the first picture was 5 years old. We let him walk. Next year we killed him. 200 inches
Bottom line. We all work together to grow big deer and respect each other. I get it is not for everybody but sure seems to work for us

No problem from me with all that The cartoon and my posts were about the new trend of "reserving " deer that someone sees on their game cameras and gets butthurt when it gets harvested by someone else. I've seen that, and I still don't understand the concept of a "reserved " deer, unless you're in a high rack and your guide is specifically telling you what to shoot.

Now if you really want to piss a guy off, shoot the buck that he had been saving for his wife or child. Don't take me wrong, the future of our sport rests with the younger generation no doubt. Still, it brings into question just what kind of path we're directing kids down today when so many of them equate hunting to nothing more than waiting for something to show up and eat. None of these issues existed before the days of food plots, feeders, and game cameras. There was a time when any deer taken was a trophy because it was truly earned through much time and effort by someone down the line who actually knew how to hunt them.
Rant over.
