I don't see the big deal. He is advocating for expanded mail voting, which isn't inherently partisan. He hasn't told anyone who to vote for, has he?

Problems with mail voting are too numerous to make it a good idea... for either party... unless you have malicious intent, there is no good reason for pushing it.

In person voting means folks are free from outside influence when casting a vote (no campaigning at the polls and nobody else in the booth), and ensures nobody else can vote in their place (steal their vote).

Absentee voting requires you to meet certain criteria and ballots must be individually requested, not mailed en mass.

On-line voting (with government issued pin, and perhaps at government kiosks at sponsored sites (local coffee shop, photo taken before entering kiosk (facial recognition software used to prevent voting more than once and/or to match PIN to person), only big enough for one, etc.)

We old folks are headed out of the picture, and the young folks coming in see Instagram is capable of preventing multiple likes from the same IP address, so why can't voting be done the same? In fact, why can't bills before congress be voted on by the citizen, the results driving which way their Rep votes? The loss of power is the one thing holding up such a system. Legiscritters lose power, lobbyists lose power (easy to "buy" the vote of a Rep, tougher to buy the vote of a district's populace)... but the young folks coming along will be demanding changes.

Frankly, in my area, I've never really trusted the in-person voting volunteer's either. I grew up in this area. I know when I'm getting "shined". But I never let on. I can learn from them too. grin

There is an ongoing epidemic of an contagious disease, that is a reason.

The biggest problem I see with by mail voting is the delay in counting them. In the presidential election, they usually don't have to count them because there are not enough of them to change the projected outcome. That will probably be different this year. It's highly likely that Trump will claim a narrow victory on election night with only half the votes counted. Then it changes the next day after the mail in votes are counted.

The only thing the democrats need election night for is to figure out how many mail-in votes they need to "find".

Doesn't hold water, again, if you can go to the grocery store you can go to the polls... all you need is a mask.

Unless there is a grocery store that delivers, you have to go to the grocery store. Some people have more healthy people go to the grocery store for them. Mail in ballots are the closest thing to that for voting.

Some like myself just prefer to vote by mail. I haven't stood in line at the poll in years.

I'm not as trusting as some.

If the FedGov wants to setup drop boxes for ballots which registered voters requested, and maintain a verifiable chain of custody to the vote counting center, then I don't see as many issues with expanding vote by mail. (And electronic voting would be much less expensive) Until those things are in place, I'll argue against it (with exceptions like we have today - Military, infirm, etc.)

Too many articles over the past couple years about Postal workers throwing them away, or filling them out without ever delivering them... or nursing home attendants being paid to fill out ballots a certain way, or poll workers voting for their friends and family (cause they knew they weren't going to the polls).

“This recent letter is far from Butt’s first foray into Texas politics. For years, the billionaire has bankrolled efforts against conservatives in the Republican primary and has funded Democrats in general elections.“

Rats, just when HEB was coming to Lubbock. They can get bent.

Fun fact: EVERY beer maker in the world supports Democrats, and universal voting. The makers of White Claw and Zima are huge Republicans and attend Trump boat parades.
